As I could read on www.freechelsea.com, the detained US-soldier Chelsea Manning, formerly Bradley Manning, is said to be freed in May 2017 based on a commutation of her sentence by President Obama.

As PFC in an intelligence unit of the US-army Manning was seen as a whistleblower and especially related to a certain Wikileaks video called “Collateral Murder”. The video shows how some helicopters open fire on people at the street in a suburb of Baghdad.

Manning also is said to have blown the whistle on the so called Afghan war logs and other data about US wars. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2013.

Protests against the crackdown on whistleblowing in the US often had the motto “blowing the whistle on war crimes is not a crime”. I agree with it and I am happy about these news.
